Return to Artist's Work

PC Ngo

Born in Vietnam, PC Ngo currently resides in Seattle, Washington. Ngo explores the Seattle landscape through painting urban scenes on found recycled materials such as brown paper bags and envelopes. Frequently working in series, Ngo habitually studies his subject matter, ranging from native plants to scenes from his travels, in intense repetition—creating a flurry of small, fleeting, intimate insights. Most recently, his practice has turned towards navigating contemporary identities through the expressive use of color and abstraction in portraiture. Ngo began his studies in Industrial Design but ultimately returned to his passion for painting and earned his BFA from the University of Washington in 2013.

After graduation from the University of Washington with a degree in painting, PC Ngo was immediately hired to study and train at the Grand Image Studio, a collaborative workspace providing solutions and content for complicated and aesthetically demanding works.

The artist spends the majority of his time creating work in his Seattle studio as well as occasionally collaborating with the Grand Image Studio. PC Ngo also makes under the name Van Hoang in the Grand Image catalog.
