Born in the heartland of Kansas, John Douglas grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Calfo College of Arts and Crafts, Arizona State University and Los Angeles State College; extensive world travel has further honed his artistic education. He will go literally to the ends of the earth in his search for artistic inspiration.

A feeling of classic harmony is the foremost characteristic of his work. Mr. Douglas may include intricate detail, iconography, or images evoking antiquity, but each piece as a whole reflects the fundamental balance of classical proportions.

He enjoys traveling, sharing the experience with companions; he also enjoys the performing arts (especially opera and theater) and, not surprisingly, building things by hand.
